1. How do you select your tutors?

The selection process for In Home Tutors involves four steps

  1. verifying teaching qualifications
  2. checking references
  3. validation of police check for working with children
  4. face to face interview

2. How long will my child need tutoring for?

This will depend on the goals you have for your child and their education. Where tutoring is to fulfil a specific goal such as maximising success in a school entrance exam, we would suggest a minimum of 6 hours. The hours of tuition required will vary depending on your child’s current level of attainment and their goal.

3. How much does tutoring cost?

We have a scale of charges starting with our Regular tutoring package at $55 per hour and ranging to our Intensive tutoring package at $100 per hour. All packages offer savings when booking for the term.

4. What abilities do you cater for?

Our tutors have the flexibility to deal with a whole range of abilities. Whether your child is having problems keeping up, or lacks motivation because they are not adequately stretched – our tutors will design and adapt tutoring to maximise your child’s achievements.

6. What if my child doesn’t get along with the tutor?
We make every effort to select the best tutor for your child, but if after three sessions, you believe your tutor an unsuitable match for your child, you can request a change of tutor by contacting our head office.

7. What subjects and levels do you offer?

At In Home Tutor we focus on the foundation subjects, English and mathematics. It is our experience that competence in these subjects positively impacts on performance in other subject areas.
We cater for students from year 3 to year 10 in Mathematics and Year 3 to Year 12 in English as we find these are the levels where our expert tutoring can be most beneficial.
We are also able to coach students for NAPLAN and school entrance exams.

8. What times are your tutors available?

We will select a tutor for your child based on your child’s needs but also take into account yours and your tutor’s hours of availability. You will be able to finalise arrangements with your tutor so that your tutoring sessions are scheduled at a convenient time.

9. Where are you located?

Our head office is based in Wollongong, NSW, and we currently have tutors available throughout the Illawarra. Our tutors come to you so you have the convenience of tutoring in your own home.

10. Who do I speak to if I have concerns or questions?

We suggest that you first direct queries or concerns to your child’s tutor. In most cases they will be able to allay any concerns and answer any questions you may have about your child’s tutoring. In fact, we would encourage you to have an open dialogue with your tutor regarding your child’s progress.
